Is This Political Witch-Hunt or Justice? Nigerians Demand Answers!

Abia State’s boldest female governorship contender for 2027 has just been thrown behind bars in Lagos, and Nigerians are asking the hard questions nobody in power wants to answer.

In a dramatic twist that has set social media ablaze, Doris Ogala, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate eyeing the Abia State Government House in 2027, was on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, remanded in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos, by a Federal High Court. She will remain locked up until a date is fixed for her bail hearing.

The popular Nollywood actress and outspoken politician was ordered into custody in connection with a legal battle involving Pastor Chris Okafor. Reports indicate the case centres on allegations of cyberbullying, cyberstalking and related charges. Comedian and on-air personality DeeOne broke the news in a video, confirming: “Doris Ogala has just been remanded in Ikoyi Prison till she can get a date for her bail hearing.”

Doris Ogala has never shied away from speaking her mind on political and personal issues.

POLITICAL THEATRE OR GENUINE JUSTICE?

But this is not just another court case. This is pure political theatre – and many are smelling a rat.

Just days earlier, Ogala herself had publicly raised alarm that powerful forces were plotting to keep her behind bars. She warned that any attempt to silence her through the courts would be a direct attack on her 2027 ambition and the voice of the people. Now, her worst fear appears to have materialised. From the campaign trail to the cold walls of Ikoyi Prison – how convenient?

Is this the new playbook for dealing with bold women who dare to challenge the status quo in Abia politics? While the current administration under Governor Alex Otti continues its governance, a rising AAC candidate finds herself in handcuffs over a personal matter that has suddenly become a federal case. Coincidence? Many Nigerians on X and WhatsApp are not buying i

The long-running personal dispute with Pastor Chris Okafor is at the centre of the legal action.

Ogala has never been one to keep quiet. She has openly criticised certain religious leaders and political figures, including recent comments involving Apostle Johnson Suleman over his praise of Governor Otti. She has positioned herself as a fearless alternative voice ahead of 2027. Now she is the one in prison, while others continue to enjoy the privileges of power and pulpit.

Remand is not conviction. She has not been found guilty of any crime. Yet the optics are damning. A woman who wants to govern Abia State is now cooling her heels in a Lagos prison, waiting for a bail date that could drag on. Her supporters are already crying foul, calling it selective justice and political intimidation dressed up as law.

WILL SHE RISE FROM THE PRISON WALLS?

Will she emerge stronger, like others before her who contested elections from behind bars? Or is this the beginning of a calculated attempt to crush her ambition before the race even properly begins?

The African Action Congress has already condemned the development, describing it as an attack on democratic participation and freedom of expression. The party insists the Cybercrime Act is being weaponised against a legitimate political contender.

Warri Voice will continue to follow every development. The people of Abia – and indeed all Nigerians who believe in free and fair political competition – deserve answers.
