FORMER GOVERNOR UDUAGHAN'S ENDORSEMENT CREATES MORE CONFUSION IN DELTA APC

The endorsement of the Delta State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori by the immediate past Governor of Delta State H.E Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan has sent shock waves through the length and breadth of the political terrain. His message has been trending on various news networks across the nation, especially at a time like this when the ward-to-ward campaigns are about starting in the Senatorial District of the former Governor in which he is the political leader. No doubt, it is a morale booster for Delta State PDP and a killer for the opposition in the State.

While some schools of thought in the opposition may want to deny the lucid significance of his endorsement of PDP candidates, it has increased the momentum of the ruling party in the State. The just concluded midterm elections in the United States of America witnessed the comebacks of former US Presidents Barrack Obama and Donald J. Triumph galvanizing their political base for their preferred candidates. The effects of their endorsement were equally felt in the outcomes of the elections. Therefore endorsements by former Presidents, Governors, etc are very key in any political dispensation, especially in a grassroots election.

The Delta State All Progressive Congress (APC), was hoping to leverage the effects of the primaries to convince former Governor Uduaghan to exit the party or better still support the APC from within the party. Their intentions were built on falsehood which is typical of them. Instead of them to focus on the issues that affects Deltans, they were busy struggling to grab power via the back door by circulating hate speeches using various social media channels. In the popular Warri slang, ‘Delta nor they carry last'.

The Build a New Delta (BAND) Agenda of the All Progressives Congress was predicated on deceit designed to hoodwink Deltans to view their plaque-infested party as a preferred choice. They say charity begins at home, coincidentally the Governorship candidate of the APC in Delta State is the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the 6th man in this country yet failed Federal infrastructures are ubiquitous in his Delta Central Senatorial District which he represents in the Senate. Despite incessant attacks on his constituents from the Owheru, Abraka axis, the Delta Central-born Senator has lost his voice in the National Assembly to speak up for his people which is his primary responsibility. No doubt, the Orogun-born DSP Ovie Omo-Agege has continually absconded from duty when it matters. He is the only Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria that showcases uncompleted projects as his legacy as recently being displayed.

The current streaks of endorsements from H.E Chief James Ibori to H.E Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan is a confirmation of the facts that, the APC Governorship candidate cannot be trusted with power because of his antecedence. DSP Ovie Omo-Agege was known as a serial defector, he jumps from one political party to another in his quest for power. Chief Great Ogboru gave him a platform to Senate, he ended up frustrating the same man that gave him hope when he was hopeless. The case of Chief Otega Omerhor was not different, he ensured that he was suffocated using State powers to subdue the man who was the face of Delta State APC. He was so petty to the extent that, he tried to prevent Chief Otega Omerhor from securing a Federal Government appointment. These callous attributes of the Governorship candidate of APC were an eye-opener for political leaders in the State and Nigeria in general. Hence, these waves of endorsements for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori because they cannot afford to support a political desperado who is a known ethnic bigot with a voracious appetite for meddling in other Senatorial Districts in a grand ploy to grab power.

Finally, the APC's BAND Agenda was designed for deceits and Deltans cannot accept the fraud that was sold to the State in 2015 with a repeat in 2019. Despite the State Government programmes to ameliorate the sufferings of the people, Deltans are going through hell because of the failed policies of the APC-led Federal Government in which DSP Ovie Omo-Agege is a ranking member. The poor policies of the APC Government have continued to enhance the misery of Deltans to the deafening silence of the National Assembly. The 8th Senate has been rated as the weakest in the history of Nigeria, hence anything goes so long it is from the Executive arm of Government.

Consequently, Delta State APC is in confusion as Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori continues to enjoy more endorsements from political colossuses of the Country. The MORE Agenda is real and Deltans should EXPECT MORE from the incoming PDP administration because of the strong foundation that will be left by the outgoing Government of H.E Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
