There exists a significant correlation between knowing God and experiencing manifestations of His power, a display of His glory, an unfolding of His grace, and the bestowment of His mercy. The impassioned plea: “That I may know Him,” as recorded in Exodus 33:13 and Philippians 3:10, frequently heralds an exhibition of divine power, glory, grace, and mercy. Individuals lacking knowledge of God are incapable of grasping His self-manifestation; conversely, those possessing genuine knowledge of Him are uniquely positioned to behold demonstrations of His mighty power, glorious majesty, gracious favor, and tender mercies.
A divine mystery is unraveled by Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:10, which pertains to the fourfold metamorphosis of the faithful. Initially, it entails a profound comprehension of God’s essence; subsequently, this insight precipitates the demonstration of resurrectional power within the believer; thirdly, such divine power manifestation may pave the way for adversity and persecution, aptly termed by Apostle Paul as partaking in the fellowship of His sufferings; ultimately, it yields a gradual assimilation into Christ’s likeness, resulting in the attainment of perfection in Him.
Our spiritual father, Rev. Lawrence O. Agbirekomi of Gihon City Bible Church, often asserts that the cornerstone of our Christian faith is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a truth validated by 1 Corinthians 15:17, which states, “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is in vain; ye are yet in your sins.” Our triumph over sin stems from the undeniable fact that Christ is risen indeed.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of triumph for believers. Understanding the power of resurrection transforms believers from a state of defeat to one of triumph over spiritual adversities and human machinations. There is no place for defeat, for “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37), and we possess the Greater One who resides within us (1 John 4:4), fighting our battles and granting us daily victory.
This resurrection season presents an opportunity for a new beginning, as stated in Romans 6:4: “Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.” In Christ, we now live a life characterized by dominion, power, and spiritual triumph.
To revisit some important key points, our spiritual father’s message from yesterday highlights the power of resurrection as a transcendent force beyond the ordinary realm. He emphasized that understanding this power grants us an advantage over every force of darkness.
He further emphasized that the power of resurrection provides us with the certainty that God will fulfill all His promises to us. God fulfilled His promise to Jesus by raising Him from the dead on the third day (Acts 2:25-36). Similarly, God will not abandon us to endure our difficulties, sufferings, pains, and troubles. Through the power of resurrection, we have assurance that God will deliver us from all of them (Psalm 34:19).
He finally disclosed that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate testament to God’s immense power over every sin, disease, and death. The resurrection of Christ makes us realize the limitless power of God, and as we understand that our God is all-powerful, we also become powerful and take charge of our world. That is when we start walking in dominion through the power of resurrection.
Here are ten things that the power of resurrection accomplishes in the life of a believer:
1. It enables a person to live a transformed life, avoiding a relapse into previous habits.
2. It equips believers to conquer the dominance of sin, death, and fear.
3. It authenticates their faith, fosters active hope, and offers justification.
4. It instills the spiritual resilience and strength required to thrive victoriously.
5. It provides spiritual enlightenment.
6. It delivers from guilt and shame, and restores lost glory.
7. It impacts human lives and reshapes destinies.
8. It brings us into alignment with God’s perfection, and we progressively become more like Jesus, ultimately achieving perfection in Christ.
9. It secures a bright future. Jesus’ resurrection empowers us to face tomorrow fearlessly. Because He lives, we shall also live (John 14:19).
10. It assures believers of their future resurrection, transcending the finality of physical death. Essentially, it is only those believers who are currently imbued with the power of resurrection that will ultimately experience resurrection when the trumpet sounds and Christ returns.
