Pastor's Warning to Women Against 'Owning' Husbands Sparks Debate After Psychiatric Hospital Revelation

A Nigerian pastor, identified as Omotunde, has ignited widespread discussion online after sharing a cautionary tale from her visit to a psychiatric hospital, warning women against the desire to control or "own" their husbands.

The story, which has gone viral on social media platforms and blogs, was detailed in a post on Linda Ikeji's blog, recounting the pastor's experience during a ministry visit to a mental health facility.

According to the narration, Pastor Omotunde encountered a female patient who was admitted after suffering a severe mental breakdown. The cause of the breakdown was traced to the moment the woman discovered her husband with another woman.

The pastor revealed a startling detail: the patient had allegedly used "juju" (a charm or spell) in an attempt to gain complete control over her husband and ensure his unwavering devotion. The strategy backfired catastrophically when the husband was still able to be with someone else, shattering the wife's perceived control and leading to her psychiatric crisis.

Moved by the encounter, Pastor Omotunde issued a strong warning to wives, urging them to avoid such paths. She stated that a man's spirit will always resist being "owned" by any woman, including his wife.

“You can’t own a man. His spirit will not let you. You can’t own a man. You can only love him, and he loves you in return. You can’t own him!” she was quoted as saying.

She further advised women to focus on prayer and their own responsibilities, rather than attempts to dominate their partners. "Do your part and leave the rest to God. You are not the Holy Spirit," she counseled.

The story has sparked mixed reactions from the public. While some have commended the pastor’s message as a necessary warning against toxic control and the dangers of resorting to unorthodox means in relationships, others have criticized it for seemingly oversimplifying marital issues and placing disproportionate blame on women.

The incident has also opened up conversations about the pressures within modern marriages and the importance of mental health awareness.
