It was a celebration of “Uncommon Grace” on the morning of Sunday, 30th November 2025, as Gihon City Bible Church, founded by Rev. Lawrence O. Agbirekomi in February 2025, held its first Annual Thanksgiving Service. The service featured a powerful ministration by Bishop Mike Laju, who delivered a profound message centered on the power of thanksgiving and godly principles.
Reading from Jeremiah 30:19, Bishop Laju explained that true thanksgiving involves both thanks and giving. “As one’s mouth offers thanks to God, one’s hand should also extend in giving,” he stated, highlighting the inseparable link between gratitude and generosity.
The bishop emphasized that knowing life’s pathway makes the journey less difficult. He also stressed the importance of being richly blessed by God, noting that “only one car cannot make a convoy”—a metaphor for the blessings and impact that come through community and multiplication.
“Life is all about principles,” Bishop Laju declared. “The ordinance of life is established by principles.” He further revealed that while the personality of Christ saves, it is His principle of giving that truly prospers a person. In a memorable statement, he said, “Principle is stronger than principality,” underscoring the supremacy of God’s kingdom principles over earthly and spiritual oppositions.
Using vivid illustrations, Bishop Laju explained how God often takes something small to create something great. He referenced the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib and the growth of a baby from a tiny seed, teaching that “until God takes something from one, He cannot make something big out of one’s life.”
He also highlighted thanksgiving—especially when done cheerfully—as a divine multiplier. “Your thanksgiving is a multiplying factor that makes you prosper in life,” he said. According to him, prosperity flows to those who give sacrificially, not just those who speak much. “Every prosperous person has a story of sacrificial giving that brought the glory.”
In his concluding exhortation, Bishop Mike Laju encouraged the congregation to offer thanksgiving to God even in difficult times. He assured them that when thanksgiving is given in inconvenient moments, the Holy Spirit uses it to multiply blessings and open financial doors.
The service marked a significant milestone for Gihon City Bible Church, setting a spiritual tone of gratitude, faith, and expectation for greater manifestations of God’s grace.
